Are you planning an action in your community?

The Haitian community in Springfield, Ohio is facing an existential crisis after TPS protections were stripped away in July. Dozens of people have been detained by ICE and hundreds have been shackled with ankle monitors. Thousands more are living in fear and uncertainty. And now the community is grieving the devastating death of 20-year old college student Pierre Damas Bel (pictured above).

Through their pain, a clarion call has emerged from the Haitian community: Unshackle Springfield, Unshackle Our Communities. On Saturday, September 19, leaders in Springfield are calling for a national day of solidarity and action. Across the country, we will lift up the struggle for freedom and dignity in Springfield and call for an end to death, detention, and deportation in all of our communities.
